Course Content
The publication of the ACOP and guidance (L8) in January 2001 for the "Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems" has emphasised on the need for proof of competence of those employees who have an overall responsibility for any type of domestic water system. This is a one day course covering current legal requirements and guidelines for all water systems except cooling tower systems. The course is designed to help to inform the responsible person/manager of their legal obligation and that of their staff to ensure that all relevant precautions are taken to minimise the risk to site personnel.
Topics covered will include:
- Understanding Legionella and its control
- Legal aspects and the ACOP (L8)
- Implementing precautions and prioritising actions
- Water disinfection procedures
- Management of the precautions
- Monitoring and record keeping

Delegates
The course is aimed at managers, responsible and nominated responsible persons, supervisory staff, any person interested in extending their knowledge of Legionnaires' Disease and those looking for an in-house tailored training course to fit particular needs.
All delegates will be expected to complete a WHT assessment. This will confirm the understanding of the work completed during the day and complement the usual certificate of attendance, which is issued to delegates after courses.
